Welcome to my new website! This is a personal project that I have wanted to do but not had the time for until now.
I enjoy cooking and on my The Island Chef website you will see the business side of my life in recipes, cooking, events and creating special evenings and menus for clients. I have over the last 15 years done all the photography for the business side. From food shots, events and locations, many of the photos are on that website. On this personal website, I am sharing photos that I have taken for other events and locations. I enjoy photography and started with a small 35mm camera, then moved onto a Canon SLR using 35mm film. I got two camera bodies to go with the two main lenses I had. The cost of 35 mm film and developing them became ridiculous, so when Canon introduced the digital SLR, I prepared to get one of those when I could afford it.
I splashed out on a Canon EOS 450D, which I used often, but with the camera features on the smart phones, I began used them more. I have been through several iPhones, from an early 3 right up to my current phone, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The camera on this smartphone is excellent, and I have taken some wonderful images. But I wanted to move on to the latest digital camera, so I invested in the mirror less DSLR Canon EOS R50 at the end of last year. I also invested in some of the new lenses and the converted from RF to EF fitting so I could use my older lenses. Within the last month I bought the Canon F11 800mm telephoto lens which want to use for wildlife and countryside images. It is an amazing bit of kit!
i have started with the photograph galleries and will add other creative work such as some of my audio work including shows from the local hospital radio I worked on for a couple of years. As well as this I will add some of my written work, much of it relating to food, cooking, etc. but also a writing project that I will use an online writing platform call Substack. You can subscribe for free to the platform to read the project. More about this in a separate post.
