This year’s Round the Island Race was impacted by severe weather. The at 6.30 was is high winds and rain, which the larger boats set off in towards the Needles end of the Solent. Several of the smaller classes of boats could not sail because of the prevailing weather.
By the time the main body of boats arrived at Fort Victoria, there was an increasing number of boats turning round and returning to Cowes. I took this shot of the Clipper Events boats because they stood out in the crowded seas and the weather, sea conditions, were a perfect backdrop to the routes they were taking in the water.
