Severe weather affected this year’s Round the Island Race. At 6.30 am, there were high winds and rain, so the larger boats set off towards the Needles’ end of the Solent. Several of the smaller classes of boats could not sail because of the prevailing weather.
By the time the main body of boats arrived at Fort Victoria there were an increasing number of boats turning round and returning to Cowes. I took the shots of the Clipper Event boats because they stood out in the crowded seas, the weather and sea conditions, were a perfect backdrop to the courses they were taking in the water.
